Sherry Runs Moves To No. 15 All-Time Indoors For 2 Miles With 8:50.05 By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Conard CT senior Gavin Sherry returned Friday to The Armory in New York and ripped off another indoor personal best on the first night of the New Balance Games. Two weeks after breaking the U.S. Air Force Hispanic Games record in the mile with 4:06.72, the Stanford recruit ran 8:50.05 to win the 2-mile. He knocked 12 seconds off the meet record. Sherry, who has run 8:47.20 for 3,200 meters outdoors, ran pretty close to that exact pace Friday. His split for 3,000 meters was 8:15.57. His twin brother, Callum Sherry, placed second in the 2-mile, running 9:06.50. Brayden Seymour of Hagerty FL was third in 9:16.13. In the girls 2-mile, Anna Macdonald from Germantown Friends PA ralllied past Rylee Davis of Bethlehem Central NY in the final few laps to win in 11:02.98. Davis was second in 11:05.02. |
